WHO WE SERVE

RMA partners with local agencies and organizations to provide our services to youth and families in crisis. Here are some examples of organizations we work with:

WHAT WE DO

We provide free nature-based experiences that focus on community-building, environmental education, holistic health, life skill development, and self-challenge.

TRIPS

(weekend retreats and day visits)

All ages!

Activities include ropes course, kayaking, environmental education, community building, and wellness.

INTERNSHIPS

(month-long on-site position)

Ages 18-21

1-on-1 mentorship, life skill-development, community support and resource connection.

WHY WE DO IT

Nature is for all

with the money

with the knowledge

with the transportation

with the gear

We believe that connection is the foundation of healing; connection to Earth, connection to Other, and connection to Self. All people deserve access to these forms of connection, regardless of life circumstance. Our organization seeks to provide nature access and education to the members of our community facing the highest barriers to these services.

OUR HISTORY

Rocky Mountain Ascent is the successor of the Knights of Heroes Foundation (KOH), a nonprofit organization that was started in 2007 in response to a growing need for positive adult mentorship for Gold Star Children. In 2018, KOH began hosting day and overnight trips for children from group homes in Colorado Springs. These visits sparked a passion in KOH volunteers and graduates, who committed to expanding the program working with local youth in the foster care system. Rocky Mountain Ascent was officially established in 2022, growing each year since.

Colorado Springs Salvation Army, 2025

"We are incredibly grateful to have found Rocky Mountain Ascent (RMA) and to partner with them in creating life-changing outdoor experiences for our clients. This summer, we had the joy of sending 63 campers to RMA—some for day trips and others for an unforgettable weekend retreat.

From the moment you arrive on the property, you feel the love and support radiating from the RMA team. The staff is welcoming, kind, and intentional about creating a safe space where everyone can relax, explore, and just breathe.
The amenities are top-notch, the activities were fun and engaging, and the views—absolutely breathtaking. Add to that the delicious food and thoughtful programming, and it was truly a soul-filling experience for everyone involved."
